IACS Youth Leadership Program announces Camp Bharat 2024

(Washington State residents only)

August 13-17, 2024

Fort Worden, Port Townsend

DROP-OFF/CHECK-IN AND PICK-UP/CHECK-OUT INFORMATION

DROP-OFF: Tuesday, August 13th at Bellevue College Parking Lot# 5 : 3000 Landerholm Cir SE, Bellevue, WA 98007 at 11.00 a.m.  Please refer to Campus map here. The luggage needs to be loaded by 11:40 am. THERE WILL BE NO DROP-OFF ALLOWED AT FORT WORDEN AND NO EARLY PICKUP PRIOR TO SATURDAY FROM CAMP.

CHECK-IN: You are required to check-in your child at the check-in table and receive his/her luggage tag, drop off any medications at the medication table. Please drop the luggage off in the designated area. We will have committed volunteers and our Youth Board members helping and guiding this process.

LUNCHPlease pack a snack AND lunch (both seeds and nut-free), and a drink as it is a 3-hour drive.  While we will take a quick break at a rest area, in the interest of saving time, we will want campers outside at the rest area (McDonald’s and Dairy Queen) as much as possible vs indoors. We urge you to send a sack lunch with your child as we are trying to discourage buying lunch at the rest area. This will be a short stop. We have several severe allergies to seeds and nuts this year, please do not send anything with your child that contains nuts or seeds (sesame/hemp, pumpkin seeds, etc).

MEDICAL INFO: Please drop-off medicines for your children at our check-in table with the volunteer collecting medications. Medications need to be in their original container, clearly labeled, and placed in a Ziploc bag with the child’s name, a reason to use them along with instructions. Please do the same for any non-prescription medicine your child needs as well.

Medicines used only as needed like INHALERS /NEBULIZERS, EPIPEN should be sent as well if they have known allergies to FOOD / BEE STINGS. Please make sure that the nebulizers and inhalers are in perfect working condition. We will not have time for filling prescriptions for your children at camp. We are requiring campers & volunteers to report all allergies including seasonal since many of the symptoms are overlapping with COVID 19 symptoms. Our Camp doctors will treat all allergies appropriately. Considering overlapping symptoms, it’s important to know prior medical history even for small things so the camp doctors are aware.

Please ensure you check out your kids. The volunteers are unable to leave the desk until all campers are checked out and we do have camp finale right after checkout is done. Please do stay for that.
  • Special Request: The 32 members of our Youth Board, their advisors, and our team of volunteers will work tirelessly to plan for the camp and will spend almost 20 hours a day during the camp, to ensure your child enjoys and thrives at camp.
